In brief: Troegs out of top 50 for U.S. craft brewers

By

Derry Township-based Troegs Brewing Co. has fallen out of the top 50 for largest craft-brewing companies in the country, according to the 2013 list from the Brewers Association, released Monday.

Troegs was No. 50 last year.

Victory Brewing Co. in Chester County remains the largest craft brewer in Pennsylvania. It is No. 28 in the U.S., based on 2013 beer sales volume. That is down two spots from last year's list.

The Boston Beer Co., maker of Samuel Adams, is the top craft brewer in the country. It is No. 5 among all U.S. brewers. Schuylkill County-based D.G. Yuengling & Son Inc. is No. 4.

Craft brewers sold an estimated 15.6 million barrels in 2013, up from 13.2 million in 2012, according to the association.
