York County businessman Scott Wagner will be sworn into his new office as state senator Wednesday after a surprising run for the seat as a write-in candidate during a special election in March.
Wagner, owner of waste disposal company Penn Waste Inc. of East Manchester Township, won the election for the 28th District Pennsylvania Senate seat vacated earlier this year by Mike Waugh.
The official swearing in is scheduled for 11 a.m. in the Senate Chamber of the Capitol in Harrisburg.
Wagner also is the owner of KBS Trucking in Jackson Township, York County.
In the March 18 election, Wagner's write-in results nearly doubled the total of each of his competitors, Republican Ron Miller and Democrat Linda Small.
The district is contained entirely in York County and includes York city.
