York County businessman Scott Wagner will be sworn into his new office as state senator Wednesday after a surprising run for the seat as a write-in candidate during a special election in March.

Wagner, owner of waste disposal company Penn Waste Inc. of East Manchester Township, won the election for the 28th District Pennsylvania Senate seat vacated earlier this year by Mike Waugh.

The official swearing in is scheduled for 11 a.m. in the Senate Chamber of the Capitol in Harrisburg.

Wagner also is the owner of KBS Trucking in Jackson Township, York County.

In the March 18 election, Wagner's write-in results nearly doubled the total of each of his competitors, Republican Ron Miller and Democrat Linda Small.

The district is contained entirely in York County and includes York city.

"Harrisburg has a spending problem, not a revenue problem." said every politician for the last 20 years! What is this multi business owner(no need to mention party affiliation, it is a given) going to do different to change this? Just LIKE every politician, you mention the issues on your website. The issues are beyond obvious. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO CHANGE HARRISBURG? Advice- stop bashing the President/Democrats and any other person/thing and start writing about positive solutions. What are you going to do- step by step. How are you going to remotely accomplish anything?

Let me guess- you are going to do things to help small business(that's me). Hmm. That helps you, right. Self serving. But self serving isn't always bad, right? Ha- at the end of the day we will be getting more of the same. No offense Scott, but the only difference you will make will be for your family and well-to-do friends. Please prove me wrong.
