The Downtown Hershey Association will hold a public session next month to discuss revitalizing Chocolate Avenue.

The meeting will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. April 10 at The Hershey Story.

Last month, the DHA announced the hiring of Lititz-based Derck & Edson Associates LLP -- a firm comprising landscape architects, civil engineers and land planners -- to bring the vision to life.

At the planning session, community members will be asked to vote on their preferences for urban design details, including pavings, lighting, public art and crosswalks.

Those who are unable to attend can respond to an online survey that will be posted on the association’s website after the meeting.

Derck & Edson is working with the Urban Research and Development Corp., the firm hired to update Derry Township’s comprehensive plan and zoning ordinances and to address traffic issues.

The downtown Hershey plan is expected this fall, according to the association. The DHA is a project of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, based in Harrisburg.
