Midstate factories part of state tourism guide

By ,

Factory tours in Central Pennsylvania are featured in the state Department of Community and Economic Development's 2014 Pennsylvania Vacation Guide.

Harley-Davidson and Snyder’s of Hanover factory tours are covered in the annual magazine aimed at showcasing activities across the state. The magazine’s cover story also looks at the state’s manufacturing industry, including Herr’s Snacks, Turkey Hill and Hershey.

Tourism has become big business in York County, said Brent Burkey of the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“Tourism industry spending rose to about $885 million here in York County in 2012,” he said in an email.
