Darrenkamp's gets SBA loan for York County store

By ,

Lancaster County-based Darrenkamp's Markets has been awarded a $584,000 loan for its first York County store via the Small Business Association 504 loan program.

“In collaboration with Fulton Bank, EDC Finance Corporation approved an SBA 504 loan to cover leasehold improvements and the acquisition of equipment,” EDC said in a news release. “With construction winding down, Darrenkamp’s hopes to open the new store in April.”

According to EDC, the 40,000-square-foot full-service store in Newberry Commons, Newberry Township, will offer fresh meats, bakery items and hot prepared foods. It will employ approximately 100 people.

Darrenkamp’s headquarters is in West Lampeter Township. This will be its first location outside Lancaster County. Its three existing stores are in Willow Valley, Mount Joy and Elizabethtown.

“The Darrenkamp family felt compelled to expand in this marketplace given the gap in services available, with no traditional grocery store located within an 8-mile radius,” EDC said.
