Cedar Haven sale interviews set for Wednesday in Lebanon County

The Lebanon County Board of Commissioners will meet privately with two consulting companies Wednesday to hear their pitch on how they would market Cedar Haven Nursing Home.

That could put the commissioners on track to make a decision on which to hire by the next public meeting on March 20, according to Jamie Wolgemuth, Lebanon County's chief clerk and county administrator.

On Thursday, the commissioners decided after more than a year of deliberation they would sell the county-owned facility. The first step is to hire a consulting company to market it.

After meeting with about a half-dozen firms since the fall, they narrowed the choice to two — Susquehanna Group Advisors Inc. in Lower Paxton Township and Senior Living Investment Brokerage Inc. in Illinois.

The decision to narrow the choices down to those two companies does not mean the county can't look elsewhere if the commissioners don't like next week's presentations, Wolgemuth said.

The county can pull the plug on an intended sale at any time during the process, Wolgemuth said.

"It's not a no-turning-back decision," Wolgemuth said about Thursday's action.
