Who are the best homebuilders in the country? We have some of them right here in Central Pennsylvania.

The National Association of Home Builders last month recognized industry leaders through its Best in American Living Awards and Best of 50+ Housing Awards.

Lancaster-based Charter Homes & Neighborhoods took home a silver BALA award in the "best neighborhoods" category for its Walden community, a mixed-use development in Silver Spring Township.

Walden has been one of the best-selling neighborhoods in Central Pennsylvania in recent years. Charter cited 157 home sales in 2012 and 2013.

On the over-50 side, Delaware County-based Traditions of America LP, the developer behind 55-plus communities in Cumberland and Lancaster counties, picked up 11 awards for its work across the state.

Traditions of America at Silver Spring took a silver in "best 50+ for-sale community (over 200 homes)," while its new Lititz community nabbed a gold for "best 50+ for-sale community on the boards."

The south campus expansion of Landis Homes, located near Lititz, won a gold and an innovation award in the "best 50+ recognition of sustainable features" category.

Lancaster-based RGS Associates Inc. and Manheim Township-based RLPS Architects accepted the awards. Benchmark Construction Co. Inc., based in West Earl Township, was the builder on the project.

Willow Valley Communities also took home a silver award for its brochure program.

Congratulations to you all.
