The York Dispatch will transition to its new morning edition beginning Monday.

In December, the newspaper announced that publisher Dave Martens was taking over as president of The York Dispatch Publishing Co., effective Jan. 1.

The conversion to morning was announced last month. The York Dispatch and The York Daily Record will now go head to head.

Since 1990, the two papers have operated under an agreement where they share business operations but maintain separate news operations and editorial voices.

The York Newspaper Co. and MediaOnePa control business operations for both publications. They are part of MediaNews Group, which is a division of Digital First Media in New York City.

I didn't realize there was that much news in York! Agree...a terrific waste.

Terrific waste of trees! One paper, three times a week is all that is needed. Get with the times!
