Since 1999, Pennsylvania exports have grown 253 percent, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Last year, the commonwealth had its second-best year ever, with $40.9 billion in exports. That trailed only 2011's total of nearly $41.1 billion.

Current U.S. free trade agreements with 20 countries account for nearly half of Pennsylvania's exports.

Pennsylvania was No. 10 among states for 2013 exports.
