Penn State University's engineering program is one of the best in the country when it comes to future earnings potential, according to a new report from BestValueSchools.com.
On best return on investment, Penn State came in at No. 23 on the top 25 list. The site pulled rankings from U.S. News and World Report and then a 30-year average net return on investment from Payscale.com.
California Institute of Technology in Pasadena took the top spot on the list. Its engineering program ranked fourth, while the average net ROI is $1.99 million.
Other than Penn State, the next closest local schools were Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, which was No. 12, and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, which was No. 7.
The top ranked engineering degrees at Penn State are industrial engineering, materials engineering and engineering science/engineering physics.
