KIZ tax credits awarded; Harrisburg market gets more

The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development has determined its 2013 Keystone Innovation Zone tax credit awards, and companies in the Harrisburg market are getting more than they did last year.

According to the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & the Capital Region Economic Development Corp., a total of $690,474 was awarded to eight companies in Cumberland and Dauphin counties — a 22 percent increase over the 2012 total. The Chamber & CREDC administer the Harrisburg Market KIZ as well as the Technology Corridor Enterprise Zone and the South Central Keystone Opportunity Zone.

Companies awarded in the Harrisburg market are as follows.

Better Bowls LLC — Hershey Center for Applied Research, Dauphin County ($83,599)

Cruzstar LLC — TechCelerator at Murata Business Center, Cumberland County ($6,875)

Markant Corp. — TechCelerator at Murata Business Center, Cumberland County ($100,000)

New Era Orthopedics LLC — Hershey Center for Applied Research, Dauphin County ($100,000)

Red Privet LLC — Train Station, Dauphin County ($100,000)

Vispronet Inc. — TechCelerator at Murata Business Center, Cumberland County ($100,000)

WebpageFX Inc. — TechCelerator at Murata Business Center, Cumberland County ($100,000)

Z-Band Video Inc. — TechCelerator at Murata Business Center, Cumberland County ($100,000)

Companies are eligible for KIZ tax credits if they meet the following criteria: have been in operation for less than eight years, are located within the boundaries of a DCED-approved KIZ and operate within one or more of the targeted industry sectors of a particular KIZ, and have worked with the KIZ coordinator.
