Midstate projects receive $21.3M in RACP funds

Nine midstate projects in four counties will receive nearly $21.3 million through Economic Growth Initiative grants, according to Gov. Tom Corbett, who announced 58 projects and more than $133 million in statewide funding.

For statutory and legislative purposes, the program is still known as the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, or RACP.

The grants are awarded to local communities for the construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.

Projects are now selected based upon their job-creation potential, economic impact, viability and construction readiness.

The local projects funded were as follows:

Dauphin County

• Hamilton Health Center, Hamilton Health Center Inc.: $1.5 million

• Hershey Fire Station, Hershey Fire Co.: $1 million

• Olde Uptown redevelopment, WCI Partners LP: $2.5 million

Lancaster County

• North Museum of Natural History & Science, North Museum Corp.: $750,000

• Rock Lititz, Rock Lititz LP: $3 million

Lebanon County

• Integrated Ambulatory Cancer Center for Lebanon County, The Good Samaritan Hospital: $3 million

• North Cornwall Commons, Springwood Development Partners: $3 million

York County

• Project Global, Johnson Controls Inc.: $5 million

• York County Agriculture and Natural Resource Service Center, York County Conservation District: $1.5 million

The statewide grants range in value from a minimum of $500,000 to a maximum of $5 million.

The next round of grant applications is opening Jan. 6, 2014.
