As we wind down another year of blogging in this real estate space, I'm reminded by the impending Christmas week with all its family gatherings (both big and small) that when it comes down to it, the real estate market is all about creating “home.”
What “home” means to each of us may be different, but one of the things we all share in common in Central PA is the desire to have a home. And now, in December, we celebrate “home” as much as we celebrate our faiths and family.
While renting still holds its allures and many are happily doing so, it’s the homeowners who this month particularly appreciate their sense of place and community. The satisfaction of having worked toward the goal of paying off a loan, or completing some upgrades, or even just getting a full year’s use of the pool — these are parts of the homeownership experience, and this month we get to enjoy the fruits of our labors.
As a professional Realtor and leader in the real estate community, I had the privilege of hanging out with agents of all sorts around our 10 offices this month at the annual holiday parties. I particularly enjoyed hearing the tales of homebuyers closing on their dream homes late in the year, ready to celebrate their first holiday season in it. It got me jazzed about our profession.
It’s pretty cool to be in the “home” business.
