Camp Hill-based Orthopedic Institute of Pennsylvania has been busy lately, announcing a merger with Appalachian Orthopedics of Carlisle and instituting a walk-in policy at two locations.
OIP is calling the walk-in locations orthopedic injury clinics and says they are the first in Central Pennsylvania. They are located at OIP Camp Hill, 3399 Trindle Road, and OIP Harrisburg, 450 Powers Ave., and between them offer services seven days a week, including evening hours.
The model also includes a phone line answered 24/7 by nurses and physician assistants who can advise patients to make an appointment or come in, and patients can also schedule same-day appointments online.
“We were doing a lot of follow-up on patients seen at area urgent care centers, and we had patient demand for an orthopedic injury clinic with convenient evening and weekend hours,” said Dr. Jack Frankeny, executive director of OIP. The clinics are intended to treat sprains, strains, fractures, dislocations and other minor orthopedic injuries.
