Two court reporting firms of the midstate announced this week they will join forces starting Jan. 1.
Harrisburg-based Geiger & Loria Reporting Service and Filius & McLucas Reporting Service Inc. of York officially will merge at the start of the new year, creating an office with four full-time employees and between 10 to 12 freelance reporters.
No employees will be lost in the merger, company officials said.
Officials from both firms said the merger will help the new firm cover a larger area between their two cities, install a marketing director, have a larger staff and aid in offering new technology to clients.
“Our mission is to make things simple for our clients,” says Robin L. Smith, partner and marketing director for the new firm, and general manager at the Geiger & Loria office. “This era of constantly evolving technology can be complex and frustrating. (The new firm) will offer solutions and training to help our clients make the most of the technologies available.”
Geiger & Loria has been in business since 1950, and Filius & McLucas started in 1983. The new name of the firm will be Geiger Loria Filius McLucas Reporting Service LLC.
The merger has been in the works for about a year, according to Gail McLucas, a partner in the new firm.
