Another one biting the coal dust?

By

News is out about another western Pennsylvania coal-fired power plant possibly headed offline.

AES Beaver Valley, a 125-megawatt plant, is in Potter Township in Beaver County, and its ownership has asked PJM Interconnection for permission to deactivate it by mid-2017, according to the Beaver County Times via the Pittsburgh Business Times.

According to the post, the possibility follows power-related auction results. Environmental mandates also have been brought up elsewhere as a reason for shuttering such facilities.
