Cumberland County-based The JDK Group, parent of JDK Catering Inc., is planning a new hotel ownership venture for 2015, CEO Jennifer Delaye said.
Delaye, a partner in the Harrisburg Clarion Hotel & Conference Center in Fairview Township, York County, said she couldn't yet disclose details about the plans. However, Camp Hill-based JDK Group will get much more involved in hotel ownership and attached restaurant management in coming years.
The new hotel venture will be part of Delaye's Métalaye Enterprises Inc., the company involved with the Clarion. Part of that is The Garlic Poet Restaurant & Bar, the Clarion's attached restaurant. Delaye said she would like to spin off as a branded hotel restaurant chain by partnering with mid-market hotels in Central Pennsylvania and possibly beyond.
"I think it's fresh, new and is a good business," she said.
Delaye said she expects more hotels to partner with food-service companies for third-party management of their in-house restaurants, which opens a world of opportunity for the Garlic Poet brand.
"In the next three years, you'll see more of that in the industry as hotels focus on their core business," she said.
In March, Delaye had hinted at expanding Métalaye.
