Constellation installing solar hot water at Dauphin County Prison

By

Dauphin County has picked energy products and services provider Constellation, part of Illinois-based Exelon Corp., to put in a solar hot-water system at Dauphin County Prison in Swatara Township.

The project is funded in part from savings achieved as a result of a 2009 energy performance contract between the county and Constellation, and it is expected to save the county another $3,000 annually in energy costs, according to a news release from Constellation.

The system is designed to supply 575 gallons a day, the release stated. Work is slated to wrap up in early 2014.
