Committee to hold hearing Dec. 4 for DEP, DCNR nominees

By

The state Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee will hold a public hearing Dec. 4 to consider Gov. Tom Corbett's nominees to fill the top leadership jobs at the state Department of Environmental Protection and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

Corbett announced in September he was nominating acting DEP Secretary E. Christopher Abruzzo, from the governor’s staff, and acting DCNR Secretary Ellen Ferretti to the respective posts.

DEP’s job is environmental regulation in the commonwealth and DCNR oversees state parks and forest land.

Corbett’s office said in June the governor asked DCNR Secretary Richard Allan to resign and previous DEP Secretary Michael Krancer left the agency earlier in the year.
