In brief: Destination XL opens at Harrisburg Mall

By ,

An 8,000-square-foot Destination XL store opened Tuesday at the Harrisburg Mall in Swatara Township.

Maryland developers St. John Properties Inc. and Petrie Ross Ventures bought the mall in June 2012, promising to return the regional mall into a prominent retail center.

They have spent a few million dollars on improvements — mostly exterior through signage, a more accessible main entrance and demolition of an unfinished space left by the previous owners — while attracting a few new tenants, including 2nd & Charles.

DXL is a specialty retailer focused on big and tall men's apparel. It sells more than 2,000 private label and name-brand styles, including Polo Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Lacoste, DKNY, Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger and Reebok.

The chain has about 70 stores nationwide, including four in Pennsylvania.
