PNC Bank, Sheetz announce ATM deal

PNC Bank and Sheetz have announced a partnership that will place the bank's ATMs at the convenience store's nearly 500 locations.

The Altoona-based convenience store company said the deal will include about 480 stores that will have surcharge-free ATM access through PNC. The machine installations will begin in January and February of 2014.

The new agreement replaces Sheetz’s former contract with M&T Bank, which serviced most of the store locations except for a pocket of locations in southwestern Pennsylvania, according to Monica Jones, spokeswoman for Sheetz.

The length and terms of the contract are confidential, according to Sheetz and PNC officials, with the agreement being called only “multiyear,” Jones said. PNC ATMs had never been in Sheetz stores in Pennsylvania, she said.

About 70 ATMs will be installed at the Central Pennsylvania Sheetz locations. The DepositEasy versions of the ATMs, which allow customers to cash checks at the machine, will be at a Lancaster location, as well as in the Dillsburg, Gettysburg and Ephrata locations, according to Nicole Berger, PNC spokeswoman.

Sheetz has about 480 locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia.

PNC Bank, based in Pittsburgh, is a member of PNC Financial Services Group Inc., which trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol PNC.

Way to go john b. Spread some unverified slander and make yourself more uncredible. You sound like an employee or advocate for PNC.

Trust me, this is a welcomed change! M&T Bank is a crook! They overcharge and nickel and dime their customers PNC Bank is one of the last truly free checking banks. They also refund a certain amount of times a person gets charged at other ATMs if one is not able to find a PNC Bank ATM. I had a friend whose father sat on the board with M&T Bank and talked about how they met every month and drummed up how to milk more out of their customers by charging this fee and that fee.
