Blasting is taking place in Lower Allen Township as part of installing a sewer line for the new Wal-Mart being built there, said Erin Trone, the municipality's economic development director.

Contractors have informed people and businesses in the area, and they did preblast surveying of area properties, she said.

The township has been posting updates about the blasting on its Facebook page, Trone said.

The Walmart, which is being built near the Capital City Mall, is expected to open in summer 2014, Trone said.
