In brief: HACC chosen as VA partner

By

Harrisburg Area Community College was the only college in Pennsylvania chosen to participate in VetSuccess on Campus, a federally funded program aimed at easing the transition to academic life for military veterans and their families.

Starting Nov. 4, Veterans Administration vocational rehabilitation counselor Ed Daschbach will be housed in the Military and Veterans Affairs Office at HACC's Harrisburg campus.

There are 93 other colleges across the country serving as liaisons between student-veterans and any department in the Veterans Administration. The program began in 2009 and by last year had 24 college locations.

Veterans do not have to be HACC students to participate. According to HACC President John J. "Ski" Sygielski, the fall 2013 term had 828 veterans and 135 of their dependents enrolled at HACC.
