H.B. McClure acquires Henry Mechanical

By ,

Harrisburg-based H.B. McClure Co. has acquired Henry Mechanical Inc., a commercial and industrial heating, air conditioning and refrigeration company based in East Hempfield Township.

Vice President Jeri Donadee said the deal not only gives H.B. McClure a stronger geographic presence in Lancaster and Chester counties, but it also expands the company’s ability on the commercial refrigeration side.

“This will give us infill between Harrisburg and Lancaster and (add) a whole new horizon to our approach east of Lancaster,” he said.

Started in 2005, the four-man shop at Henry Mechanical has about 50 commercial and industrial clients in those two counties, Donadee said.

“We like these acquisitions. It gives us more depth and builds market share,” he said. “Growth in Lancaster is huge for us.”

Since April 2011, H.B. McClure has made six acquisitions, including the recent absorption of Feaser Mechanicals.

“We had reached a point where it was challenging to keep up with our committed workload and we were unable to follow-up on other new opportunities,” said Christi Henry, president of Henry Mechanical. “Merging with a larger firm made sense for us to ensure we could continue to deliver a high level of customer service to our existing clients.”

Terms of the deal, which closed Friday, were not disclosed. H.B. McClure expects to maintain an office in Lancaster County under the Henry Mechanical name.

With the deal, the commercial service department expects to exceed $7 million in revenue in 2013-14, Donadee said.

H.B. McClure now has about 218 employees. It expects to do about $38 million in total revenue this year. Last year, it posted revenue of $32.1 million, according to Business Journal records.
