In brief: Harley reports strong quarterly EPS rise

Milwaukee-based motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson Inc, with York County operations, reported this week a nearly 24 percent increase in diluted earnings per share for the third quarter.

Sales in the United States were up more than 20 percent. On a worldwide basis, sales were up about 15.5 percent, according to a news release.

For the third quarter, Harley reported net income of about $162.7 million, or 73 cents per diluted share, compared with about $134 million, or 59 cents per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter.

Shares of Harley-Davidson are traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol HOG.
