Lisa Riggs, who became president of Lancaster Barnstormers in May 2012 after nine years as president of the James Street Improvement District, is stepping down at the end of October to pursue other career interests.

"Lisa was a wonderful asset to our organization during her 18 months here," Opening Day Partners President and Lancaster Barnstormers CEO Jon Danos said in a news release. "We support and respect her choice to leave, knowing she will continue to have a positive impact on the Lancaster community and therefore on the Lancaster Barnstormers."

Danos noted that Riggs' role with the Barnstormers had a strong community focus when she began with the organization in May 2012, but that the demands and priorities of the organization required her to spend increasing time on internal activities.

"The Lancaster Barnstormers have an incredible track record of nine seasons of top quality baseball and family entertainment," added Danos. "While we may make it look easy, the amount of behind-the-scenes work is extraordinary and requires great personal sacrifice. Having worked with Lisa for many years, I know she has several sources of passion and energy – one is the community, another is her family. It's important to her to find a good balance that uses all of her talents."

Riggs said she is proud of her time with the club and counts it a privilege to have worked with its staff.

"I feel like my strengths are with the community relationship building and being a real ambassador," Riggs said. Internal functions are vital to running a dynamic business, she said, "but ultimately they need someone here that has a real passion for that kind of thing."

Riggs said she will continue with the Barnstormers in a consulting role for the next few months, doesn't have her next step lined up yet and is still rooted in the Lancaster area.

"My family is here," she said. "We love this area."

There are no plans to fill Riggs' role at this time. Danos stated that the long-serving senior management team, led by General Manager Kristen Simon; Anthony DeMarco, fan experience; and Vince Bulik, business development, will continue their off-season work focused on the milestone 10th season that kicks off May 1 in the season opener against the York Revolution.
