Bon-Ton moves up Black Friday opening time to Thanksgiving night

By ,

The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. is joining the list of national retailers who are starting Black Friday hours before Friday even arrives.

The department store chain is moving up store openings to 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day instead of midnight, as it did last year, to give customers a head start on shopping, the company said today.

Customers also will be able to preview all of the after-Thanksgiving sale and door-buster items online starting Nov. 24, Bon-Ton said.

Online door busters will be available starting at 6 a.m. Nov. 27, the day before Thanksgiving, according to a news release.

The Bon-Ton Stores, with corporate offices in York County and Milwaukee, operates 273 department stores, including 10 furniture galleries, under various nameplates, the release stated.

Shares are traded on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol BONT.
