Marcellus Shale Coalition names David Spigelmyer president

By ,

The Marcellus Shale Coalition has named David Spigelmyer, a veteran of the energy industry, the new president of the organization.

Spigelmyer most recently served as vice president of Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Energy Corp.’s Appalachia division and was responsible for government relations, regulatory policy, stakeholder engagement and communications, according to a news release.

He also has served as chairman and vice chairman of the coalition, which Spigelmyer was instrumental in founding several years ago, the organization said.

Spigelmyer is a Clearfield County native who graduated from Penn State and is an outdoorsman, the coalition said.

The organization announced this summer that Kathryn Klaber would be leaving her post at the helm of the organization as CEO.

“Dave is a tireless advocate for protecting our environment and safely developing clean-burning American natural gas,” said Gary Smith, a vice president and general manager with Houston-based EOG Resources Inc. and chairman the coalition’s search committee.

Based in Allegheny County and founded in 2008, the Marcellus Shale Coalition works with exploration and production, midstream, and supply chain partners to address issues regarding the production of natural gas from the Marcellus and Utica shale plays.
