After a nine-and-a-half-month hiatus, all three area Health Management Associates Inc. hospitals are again back in network for Gateway Health Medicaid plans.

Gateway said in December that it was terminating its contract with the for-profit hospitals at the end of 2012 following a year of failed negotiations with Florida-based HMA. Details of the disagreement were not provided.

The three hospitals are Carlisle Regional Medical Center in Cumberland County and Lancaster Regional Medical Center and Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center in Lancaster County.

Today, the HMA hospitals said patients with Gateway Medicaid are again eligible to receive care at the hospitals on an in-network basis.

"We are proud of the services we offer at Carlisle Regional Medical Center and are grateful Gateway recognizes the value we provide to the community," Carlisle Regional Medical Center CEO Rich Newell said in a news release. "This agreement will play an important role in allowing us to better serve our local community.
