The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. is moving into a new market and a new state by adding a Herberger's store in Logan, Utah, the department store chain said today.

The company, with corporate offices in York County and Milwaukee, has signed a lease with Rouse Properties Inc. for the store at the Cache Valley Mall, where Bon-Ton expects to start remodeling the 62,000-square-foot facility in early spring 2014, according to a news release.

Bon-Ton anticipates completing the work in the second half of next year.

The Herberger’s location will add to a roster that stands today at more than 270 department stores under various nameplates, and it’s not the first expansion into another state in recent times.

For example, Bon-Ton last year announced it would open its first store in Maine as part of adding two new locations in the country.

Earlier in 2012, the company said it was expanding into Idaho.

Shares of Bon-Ton are traded on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol BONT.
