The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging has chosen York County and five other communities across the country for a collaborative for livable communities, which will bring national exposure to efforts of the local Embracing Aging Initiative, according to the York County Community Foundation.
The selection does not mean direct funding for projects but will provide national access and exposure to help move the initiative's action plan forward, said Jane Conover, the foundation's vice president of community investment.
Stakeholders next week will release the results of a study, which sought ways to help York County become a great place to age well, according to the foundation.
York County was the only community selected in Pennsylvania. The other states with selected communities are Colorado, Kansas, Florida, New York and Washington, according to a news release.
