Rob Steinmetz believes in the power of education, and he has made it his life's work to get that message to those who need it most. In fact, the dissertation for his doctorate at the University of Alabama focused on student retention and persistence at community colleges and how to most effectively support students who are at-risk.
Today, as vice president for student affairs and enrollment management at Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC), Steinmetz spends his time and energy coming up with ways to streamline processes and ease students' experiences at HACC's six campuses. Sought by thinktanks in Pennsylvania and beyond, he continues to be a highly regarded and requested speaker to promote student success and effective enrollment management practices.
If he could, he'd start a charity dedicated to supporting the education of first-generation college students and community colleges. "I want to be able to offer the same opportunities that I had to students who might not otherwise be successful college students," he said.
