YRC Worldwide Inc., the Kansas-based trucking conglomerate with a large midstate presence, said CEO James Welch also will take on the presidency of the company's YRC Freight division.
Welch is assuming the role that Jeff Rogers held for the past two years, overseeing YRC's largest subsidiary. Rogers has left the company, but YRC didn't say why in its announcement.
"While the regional companies (Holland, Reddaway and New Penn) continue to provide best-in-class service and more than market competitive margins, we recognize that we have additional work to do at YRC Freight and we are committed to taking the necessary steps to move our business forward," Welch said in a statement.
YRC Freight is going through an optimization plan, cutting unneeded facilities and routes to shore up the company's bottom line.
YRC owns Lebanon-based New Penn Motor Express Inc. and has warehousing in Cumberland County.
