Distribution and logistics companies are hiring in Central Pennsylvania, and that's important to Michigan-based staffing agency Kelly Services Inc., which recently moved its West Shore office to a larger location in Camp Hill.
“Those have been our biggest growth segments in the last 12 to 13 months,” said Dean Baker, Kelly Services’ regional vice president for U.S. operations in Pennsylvania.
The staffing company has seen between 10 percent and 12 percent growth in staffing demands for logistics and distribution in the state, Baker said. The Southcentral region and the Lehigh Valley have been a strong part of that growth.
A resurgence in distribution and logistics along the Interstate 81 corridor has been important, he said. Kelly Services looks at possible expansion or movement of its staffing business to include locations such as Carlisle and Shippensburg as industries grow, he said.
California-based real estate investment trust Goodman Birtcher is planning 3.8 million square feet of warehousing in the midstate, most of it on a large tract on the west side of Carlisle.
