Weis Markets: CEO leaves firm for other interests

The chief executive of Northumberland County-based Weis Markets Inc. has left the business to pursue other interests, the grocery store chain said.

David Hepfinger, president and CEO, also resigned from the board of directors, according to a company news release.

Jonathan H. Weis, the firm’s vice chairman, is the interim CEO, and Robert F. Weis remains company chairman.

Shares of Weis Markets, which has more than 160 stores in Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and West Virgina, are traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol WMK.
