Tennessee-based Dollar General Corp., which continues to grow its midstate presence, will open a new store Saturday in northern York County.

The discount retail store will open at 55 York St. in Wellsville, according to York-based Bennett Williams Realty Inc.

“There is not a town that is too small or too large for them,” Adam Hagerman, a retail specialist with Bennett Williams, said earlier this year about Dollar General. “(But) small markets are their bread-and-butter.”

Dollar General already is America’s largest general merchandise retailer in terms of number of outlets. It opened 625 new stores in 2012.

The company is building a distribution center on Interstate 78 in Berks County.
