Small businesses in Pennsylvania have until Sept. 6 to apply under the state Department of Environmental Protection's Small Business Advantage Grant Program for matching money toward pollution-prevention and energy-efficiency projects.

Fifty-percent matching funds up to $9,500 are available to help entities with 100 or fewer employees adopt or acquire procedures or equipment for achieving efficiency and pollution-prevention goals, according to a news release.

Applications must be hand-delivered or mailed to the agency, and the application package and other information is available at DEP’s website by clicking on Small Business Advantage icon.

The project must be in Pennsylvania and owned by the applicant, according to the release.

Eligible businesses range from retailers to mining operations and possible projects include boiler and heating, ventilation and air conditioning upgrades, solvent recovery and waste recycling systems, efficient lighting and power units used as truck anti-idling technology, the release stated.
