A former CEO of Farmers Pride Inc. has started his own business brokerage firm.

Bruno Schmalhofer said he was CFO and then CEO at Farmers Pride Inc., which does business as Bell & Evans, from 1989 to 2008. Following that, he spent four years as an independent contractor for a business brokerage he described as a national franchise group.

Schmalhofer’s new group, Confidential Business Advisors LLC, is based in East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County. Its focus is working with business owners to successfully sell their Central Pennsylvania-based small to middle-market-size businesses.

“I have a perspective as both a buyer and a seller of business,” Schmalhofer said.

He said after leaving his last corporate position he thought of buying a business but that did not happen, as his subsequent experiences led him to believe there was a need in the brokerage field. He is not focusing on any particular industry, he said.

Schmalhofer is president of his new company and, according to a news release, works directly with clients.
