The National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce has named the Central Pennsylvania Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce as its 2013 Chamber of the Year and will honor the midstate business group at a conference in two weeks.
“CPGLCC has transformed tremendously over this past year,” national chamber President Justin Nelson said today in a statement. “President Deb McClain and her dedicated board have really continued their work to partner with major corporations, develop educational programming, and promote national LGBT business certification. The dedication of their team never fails to impress us.”
The Harrisburg-based Central Pennsylvania chamber has been growing over the past couple of years, increasing membership by 26 percent in 2012 and landing three corporate partners this year.
Cumberland County-based Members 1st Federal Credit Union was the chamber’s first “investor” in February. Since then, Dauphin County-based The Hershey Co. and Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Co. have also signed on as corporate investors, according to the chamber website.
The Washington, D.C.-based National Gay and Lesbian Chamber will honor the midstate chamber and others from around the country at its National Business & Leadership Conference running July 30 to Aug. 2 in Dallas.
