BDO lands four former ParenteBeard partners for Harrisburg office

By

Chicago-based BDO USA LLP says it has landed 12 former partners and nearly 100 employees from Philadelphia-based ParenteBeard's banking practice, including four partners opening a new office in Harrisburg.

Effective Monday, BDO launched new offices in the capital city and Reading, where about 50 staff will be based, said spokesman Jerry Walsh. The Harrisburg office is on the sixth floor in Strawberry Square Phase II. The four partners in the Harrisburg office are Keith Cenekofsky, Joseph LaClair, Steven Masterson and Terry Lehman.

The former ParenteBeard partners and employees have joined BDO offices in Philadelphia; New York; Long Island; Wilmington, Del.; and Woodbridge, N.J., according to BDO.

"Through the addition of these professionals, we are adding premier banking sector resources to BDO's existing financial institutions industry practice in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions," said Wayne Berson, BDO's CEO.

Last fall, the company expanded in Philadelphia and Virginia. Today the firm has 49 offices, 325 partners and around 3,500 employees, Walsh said.

ParenteBeard issued a statement this morning:

"While the specific terms of our agreement remain confidential, the relationship between ParenteBeard and BDO is one of mutual respect, with both firms displaying a high level of professionalism throughout this negotiation. We are working closely with our clients and staff during this organized transfer and we are wholly confident that our financial institutions clients will have no interruption in the outstanding service ParenteBeard provides.

"ParenteBeard is fully committed to the growth of our financial institutions practice and the Central PA region. In accordance with our strategic plan, we are aggressively pursuing company growth both organically as well as through mergers and acquisitions. We continue to identify and actively pursue team members and firms, which are aligned with our strategic goals for ParenteBeard."

Last year, the Business Journal reported that midstate certified public accounting and business consulting firm Reinsel Kuntz Lesher LLP had picked up six partners from ParenteBeard's York County office.
