Zillow, the national real estate search website company, has a new TV ad out.
It’s titled “Long Distance,” and I really like it because it draws you in so nicely for 30 seconds, bringing you into the family’s life as they search for a home with the husband away. Only in the last 10 seconds do we see that he is in the military – a great touch.
As a marketer, of course, I like any well-done ads – there are so few in the real estate industry that are actually fun to watch. Then there’s the other thing I give kudos to Zillow for: It does a great job with this ad of highlighting the things that people say they love most about the home search site.
Some great ads tug on your heartstrings, or make you crack a grin, but few attempt to connect those visceral aspects with a clear presentation of the company or product and succeed. Any of you who have used Zillow for your home search have probably felt some sort of affinity for the people in the ad, even if your spouse wasn’t overseas.
As somebody who is working on similar video projects here in Central Pa., I love having national examples of great real estate ads to learn from. I think this ad is right up there with the best of them.
