Two companies with operations in the midstate said they have had to increase prices for paper products because of higher costs.
Sonoco Products Co. announced last week that it will implement a hike of $40 per ton on all grades of uncoated recycled paperboard product in response to increasing recovered paper and other raw materials costs, according to a news release. Sonoco is based in South Carolina and has operations in York County.
York-based P.H. Glatfelter Co., which makes and supplies specialty papers and fiber-based engineered materials globally, last month announced 5 percent surcharges for all beverage filtration papers as a result of high energy and raw-materials costs.
