Lancaster Parade of Homes happening now; more parades coming
This week, I had the opportunity to “work” a home in Mount Joy on behalf of Coldwell Banker for a few hours as part of the 2013 Lancaster Parade of Homes.
I was a representative for the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center, which annually fields a progressively designed home built by their students throughout the previous school year.
This year’s new home is a special one: a gold-certified “green” ranch built with insulated concrete forms and super-cool features such as solar hot water heating, rainwater catchment/reuse and furnishings provided by Stock Swap in Mountville – all previously owned.
It’s a ton of fun to talk to the parade guests streaming through about the home features and new homes in general.
I really like the Parade of Homes events throughout the year. As a Realtor, I have spent a lot of time in the Lancaster/Lebanon shows, but the Harrisburg, York County and Berks County Parades are also happening – all in September. If you spend time poking around the parades, you will learn a lot about the building process and meet some of the builders moving the industry in Central PA.
And, as most parade-goers know, you’ll learn some decorating tips from the staging and furnishings provided by the region’s top stores.
The Lancaster Parade runs through this Saturday, so there’s still time to visit our green home in Mount Joy (590 Old Market St.) or any of the other great entries – all free! You can see that list here.
I’ll be out working the house again on Saturday – see you there!
