An update meeting on the 150th anniversary commemoration of the Battle of Gettysburg will be held June 12 in the Theater I at the Gettysburg Gateway Theater in Straban Township, Adams County.
The meeting, which is set for 2 p.m., is to update businesses and residents on transportation, visitor services, safety and security, according to the Gettysburg Convention & Visitors Bureau, which held meetings in March.
There also will be a question-and-answer period at the end of the session.
“This meeting will be beneficial for everyone in our community to attend,” said Norris Flowers, the bureau’s president. “Whether you own a business, or live or work in Adams County, this meeting will help inform you of the plans being put in place regarding security, transportation and other efforts for the 150th commemoration.”
The peak period from June 28 to July 7 alone is expected to draw 200,000 people to the Gettysburg area, according to the bureau. Gettysburg’s historic year could mean more than $1 billion for this region, according to the bureau.
