Rep. Ryan Aument introduces education side of liquor privatization
A Lancaster County Republican has introduced legislation for Passport for Learning, the grant program Gov. Tom Corbett proposes funding with up to about $1 billion in projected proceeds from liquor privatization.
Rep. Ryan Aument said school districts will have to “acknowledge their understanding” that funds are temporary from the four-year program, according to a news release.
They would have flexibility to spend the money in four areas: early-learning programs for core subjects; safety and security; science, technology, engineering and math learning; and personalized learning initiatives.
The state House passed landmark alcohol sales privatization and reform legislation earlier this year, sending the issue to the state Senate.
