Utz nabs naming rights to York Expo Center arena

Utz Quality Foods Inc., the maker of potato chips and other salty snacks, has been awarded the naming rights to the former Toyota Arena at the York Expo Center.

The center will now be called The Utz Arena, said Gene Schenck, president of the York Fair. Hanover-based Utz will have a five-year contract on the naming rights, but financial details were not released.

“We’re really happy to get Utz,” Schenck said. “It’s a local organization and a food company, which is perfect for a fair.”

The deal includes Utz discount days on fair tickets, as well as Utz providing samples of their snacks and vendors featuring the company’s salty snacks.

The previous naming rights at the York Expo Center were between the fair and a consortium of Toyota dealerships in the region. That five-year deal ended this year, and the dealers did not indicate they wanted to resign for the naming rights, Schenck said.
