Carl E. Lee Jr., who came from the midstate side of the formation of Snyder's-Lance Inc. in 2010, has taken the helm of the North Carolina-based snack food company as CEO.

Lee was the CEO of York County-based Snyder's of Hanover, which merged with North Carolina-based Lance Inc. to form the new company.

Snyder's-Lance announced earlier this year that CEO David V. Singer would retire from the post after the firm's annual stockholders' meeting. The meeting was Friday.

Lee became president and chief operating officer of Snyder's-Lance in December 2010, according to the company.

His previous experience also includes the food industry names Nabisco and Frito-Lay.

Snyder's-Lance makes and markets snack foods domestically and internationally under brands such as Snyder's of Hanover, Lance, Krunchers!, Cape Cod and Jays.

The company is scheduled to release its first-quarter earnings Tuesday.

Shares of Snyder's-Lance are traded on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol LNCE.
