Codorus Valley Bancorp, ENB Financial, Fulton Financial, PNC Financial, Donegal Group report quarterly earnings

Five financial companies with midstate headquarters or operations recently reported results for the first quarter of 2013.

Codorus Valley Bancorp Inc. on Tuesday reported net income of $2.6 million, or 57 cents per diluted share, compared with net income of $2.1 million, or 47 cents per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2012.

Yahoo Finance did not report any analysts' projections of Codorus Valley's earnings.

Codorus Valley, based in York Township, is the parent company of PeoplesBank, a Codorus Valley Co. Its shares trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol CVLY.

Donegal Group Inc. today reported net income of $6.5 million, or 25 cents per diluted Class A share, compared with net income of $8 million, or 31 cents per diluted Class A share, in the first quarter of 2012.

A single analyst had predicted earnings of 33 cents per Class A share, according to Yahoo Finance.

Donegal, based in East Donegal Township, is a downstream insurance holding company. Its shares trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol DGICA and DGICB.

Activist shareholder Gregory M. Shepard last month made a $29 million tender offer to buy most of Donegal's outstanding Class B shares. His offer expires Friday. Donegal has recommended against its shareholders accepting it.

Donegal believes "substantial opportunity exists for a well-capitalized regional insurance group with a solid business strategy to grow profitably and compete effectively with national property and casualty insurance companies," CEO Donald Nikolaus said in a statement accompanying today's earnings release.

ENB Financial Corp. on April 8 reported net income of $2 million, or 70 cents per diluted share, compared with net income of $2.2 million, or 77 cents per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2012.

Yahoo Finance did not report any analysts' projections.

ENB, based in Ephrata, is the parent company of Ephrata National Bank. Its shares trade over the counter under the ticker symbol ENBP.

Fulton Financial Corp. on Tuesday reported net income of $39.2 million, or 20 cents per diluted share, compared with net income of $38.1 million, or 19 cents per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2012.

The result matched analysts' expectations, according to Yahoo Finance.

Fulton, based in Lancaster, is the parent company of several community banks, including Fulton Bank. Its shares trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol FULT.

PNC Financial Services Group Inc. today reported net income of $1 billion, or $1.76 per diluted share, compared with net income of $811 million, or $1.44 per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2012.

Analysts had predicted earnings of $1.57, according to Yahoo Finance.

PNC, based in Pittsburgh, is the parent company of PNC Bank. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol PNC.
