Natural-gas vehicle incentive package passes House committee

By - Last modified: April 10, 2013 at 11:46 AM

The state House Finance Committee on Tuesday approved legislation from midstate lawmakers for annual tax credits for purchasing natural-gas vehicles, establishing natural-gas fueling stations at major interstates and encouraging firms to move to natural-gas vehicle fleets, according to a news release.

The action moves House Bills 301, 305 and 309 to the full House for consideration, according to the news release from state Rep. Kerry Benninghoff, R-Centre and Mifflin counties, who chairs the committee.

The bills' prime sponsors are listed as Rep. Stan Saylor, R-York County; Rep. Gordon Denlinger, R-Lancaster County; and Rep. Seth Grove, R-York County.

"Running vehicles on Pennsylvania natural gas makes a lot more sense to me than running them on oil from countries that don't like us very much," Benninghoff said in the release.
